We are a small, friendly running club based in Welling. We meet every Monday and Wednesday evening at Bexleyheath Sports Club at 6:45pm. We welcome new members of any ability. We meet regularly for training runs and have groups to suit all standards which are led by qualified coaches and run leaders.
Many of our members enjoy racing over a variety of distances and we compete in the Kent Fitness League as well as other organised events.
We host our own cross country race at Oxleas Woods, our 5 mile trail challenge at Lesnes Abbey Woods is now a regular fixture. We also enjoy a wide range of social events throughout the year.
Plumstead Runners run a beginners group on Wednesday evenings for anyone interested in giving running a go. Like us you may not have a Gold medal in your sights but you might want to improve your fitness and well being, meet some new people and have a few laughs. We're not called the 'friendly running club' for nothing!
Plumstead Runners have several qualified 'Leadership in Running Fitness' members to help people go from 'Couch to 5k', and with the rest of the qualified members, can help runners build their confidence and progress to running further in a friendly atmosphere. Please contact us via the website for further information.
So with no commitment to join the club why not just come and run and have some fun. Everyone has to start somewhere, and every journey begins with a single step.
Entries for the Lesnes Abbey 5 on Sunday December 14th, 2025 are open now! We look forward to welcoming you once again to this unique event. We hope you enjoy the brutal but beautiful trails of Lesnes Abbey Woods.
The event is held in memory of Plumstead Runners’ founding member Ray Marshall
We had 24 runners for the final 5k handicap of 2025. A big well done to Donna Coonan on winning her first handicap (along with a new shiny PB!). Jo Collins ran strongly to finish in second place. Collette Covington also ran well to finish in third place. The quickest time on the night went to Duncan Platt who finished in 00:19:50. Thanks to all the volunteers who gave up their time to ensure the event went ahead.
We had a great turnout for the 10k handicap. Brendan Almond won with a lead of over two and a half minutes from David Webb (who continues to improve). Andy Vero ran well to finish in third place. The quickest time on the night went to James MacDonald who finished in 00:38:46. Thank you to all the marshals who do a great job keeping the runners safe.
We had 14 runners for the annual 10 mile handicap. Unfortunatey Andrew Duff pulled out in the early stages. Kat Worden had a terrific run, finishing almost six minutes ahead of the field. Graham Willsher had a strong run to finish in second place. And Gina Little hung on to claim third spot. Duncan Platt ran a course record (01:05:19) only to finish in sixth place. As always, a big thanks to the marshals who did an excellent job directing the runners around this challenging course.
